Don’t give up on finding a diagnosis

I have said it many times to many people but I still think it can never be said enough.  Don’t give up or get discouraged in your search for answers to strange, hard to diagnose illness!  When someone has an undiagnosed illness there always seems to be that turning point when they realize they have a much longer road ahead of them then they had thought.  If you suffer from undiagnosed illness before long you start to get the very strong vibe that not everyone is on board with you anymore.  Doctors start to question if it “is all in your head” and then sometimes even family and friends do too, heck you might even start to think that.  I have heard many people say they do.  Also, after awhile you feel like you have looked into every possible thing it could be but nothing quite fits or the test say you do not have it.

Well, all I can tell you is my son was diagnose with candidiasis after over two years of being horribly ill.  After I pitched fits to have someone even concider testing him for this, his blood work came back negative on more then one occasion. Still I felt strongly after all I had read about candidiasis that this was the most likely culprit.  Finally after a very long time I found a doctor for him that felt the same way.  Within weeks he was well on his way to recovering. The point is we did not give up and you should not either!

Since starting this blog and the HealthTies website I have come to realize there are a lot of folks out there trying to help.  I know it is very hard, frustrating, expensive and painful to keep dealing with undiagnosed illness day in and day out, but hang in there and never stop looking for answers.  If and when you get those answers and start to feel better, don’t forget to help others who haven’t gotten there yet by telling your story.  It might be just what they need to hear, it might just hold the answers they need or if nothing else it might just make them see they are not really all alone in this.
